About me

I have had a long and varied passion for sport, conditioning and physical activity. From playing basketball at a competitive level in my youth, coaching it, organising streetball tournaments and camps for youth in Poland and UK through Capoeira, Olympic Weightlifting to completing a Sports Science degree, beginning a PhD in the topic of injury prevention – offering personal Training today this passion continues…

My approach

A passion for enhancing sports performance and improving health and well-being and satisfaction of helping others to achieve these goals has driven me to become a Personal Trainer. I find it even more rewarding to help you overcome unusual challenges and obstacles, whether your goal is to look good, perform better or stay fit. My approach is results driven, engaging, systematic, sensitive to individual needs and requirements.

My Training Speciality

My training specialities include functional strength and sports conditioning, Olympic Weightlifting, Body weight training, corrective training and injury prevention, nutrition coaching. I use a variety of equipment, training styles and methods to maximise your results. 

I offer weekly training sessions in person and online, supporting and guiding you along the way. In addition I offer training programmes, reviews, consultations and exercise technique evaluation.

Experience

As an athlete, I experienced various methods of training and gained valuable insights from my teachers, coaches and trainers.

As a Sports Science graduate and former part-time lecturer on the Sports Science degree, I am able to distinguish between catchy fashionable fitness trends and no-nonsense effective training and nutrition approaches. I also stay updated with latest research findings in a rapidly developing field by regularly attending courses, trainings and conferences. Complimenting my experience as an athlete and academic background is my practical training including advanced personal training, and further practice with top weightlifting coaches and Kettlebell experts. 

l closely cooperate with physiotherapists, nutritionists and exercise physiologists giving me valuable contacts if expertise is required that is beyond my specialisation.

This combination of sound theoretical knowledge, practical skills and personal experience working in sports and gym settings with clients of varied abilities and goals has given me an in-depth understanding of training principles and enables me to create effective training sessions and long term plans to help you achieve your personal goals quickly.

My training with Tom spanned two key aspects: one focused on a series of physical and exercise-related challenges brought about by scoliosis, and the other involved psychological sessions that supported me through emotional blockages at important stages of my life.

I was introduced to Tom by my physiotherapist. Before meeting him, I had tried standard gym training sessions and followed online video programs tailored to my needs. The first thing that attracted me to Tom was his relaxed and friendly approach to most people at the gym. As we started to chat I was quite impressed by his approach to weight training which seemed grounded in a scientific approach compared to other trainers I have seen. I had been training for about 20 years and didn’t really feel I needed a personal trainer. I liked how my body looked, but there were some problem areas which I didn’t feel I was making much progress on. In addition, my workout was beginning to feel a bit boring and uninspiring. When I spoke to Tom I told him I didn’t want the same approach I had seen with other trainers who seem to push without any understanding of the person they were training.
My sessions were a revelation. He was patient with his new radical programme and pushed when he felt it would be helpful but backed off when he saw there was resistance from me. The programme was challenging and I began to look forward to working out again. I finally felt confident that what I was doing was not just pushing weights around but training the right muscles in the most effective way. Over 3 months, I began to see the difference. The body fat that I wanted to reduce started being reduced and I was gaining in muscle mass. Also my blood pressure, which was high overtime, began to return to normal.
I would recommend Tom if you want a sustained and focused approach to weight training and body sculpting. If you are not looking for gimmicks but want a programme that is grounded in a scientific approach, then Tom’s your man. Plus the sessions are also interesting since Tom is more than a typical Personal Trainer — in a way he is a coach too, so you get insights into nutrition and lifestyle changes. The conversations in the rest period can go from philosophy to weightlifting to the latest scientific reports on the physiology of muscle movement. So in short, you get a lot more for your money when you train with Tom. I would recommend him highly.

I started getting training sessions with Tomasz last year. I felt I hit a dead end and fell out of love with training when I was training on my own. I needed some guidance and direction with health and physical performance. Tomasz’s knowledge with the body, different styles of training and diets got me back in the mood for training again. Even when I got injured, he was able to treat me and give me advice on how to cure it. For this I can’t thank him enough. He became a really good friend and trainer.
Recently we cycled from London to Poland. Tomasz does this once a year and asked me to join him this year. In my head I was thinking… “He must be crazy!” The more he talked about it, I really got into the idea of doing something like this that would become a great achievement in my life. We did an intense 2.5-month training camp where he crafted a programme that would prepare me for this epic journey. Can’t thank him enough for giving me the drive and education for the training.
We both conquered the 1000+ miles bike ride this July in 7.5 days where we set up a charity for my friend who was diagnosed with cancer recently. Without Tomasz, no way was I able to complete this ride. Hopefully I will stay fit all year round now with the new knowledge Tomasz has given me. You never know… I might cycle around the world eventually!

Tom was my first PT. And thats going back some years now.

I do remember thinking that paying for PT sessions would never be a sustainable or overly valuable exercise but I couldn’t have been more mis-informed. 15 years on from the first time I ever trained with Tom, I still benefit the lessons learned and experience shared.

Apart from the more obvious benefits and physical changes, (which is why, lets face it most people hit the gym) Tom taught me the value of investing in myself and health and the mind set of (still work in practice) “being kind to yourself” and treating self care as a priority rather than an after thought.

That benefits me more to this day than I ever could have realised. And Tom may or may not believe this but his voice (a Jimmy cricket) over my shoulder is one of many voices I’ve collated over the years that acts as a compass and steers me out of difficult time, stressful life circumstances and unhealthy habits that I fall into with training and Haribos.

A Healthy body, a healthy mind. When I first started training with Tom I was over weight for my height, under active in terms of my lifestyle and blissfully unaware of those two facts. I couldn’t do 1 pull up! My cardio was shocking. I had no experience or understanding of strength training or how to lifts weights (bicep curls being the exception). 

Tom got me to a point where the two days a week that I trained with him were the high points of my week. I managed to do 20 pull ups unassisted, I could bench, deadlift and squat considerable weight with great technique and felt fantastic for it. And the change in my physique had an automatic knock on effect on my mental state. My diet consciously improved (I started seeing abs – where before I thought they were another myth of legend), I gave up drinking for about 6 years just because…. which felt great….. and thats just to name but a few things. 

The new version of myself that I discovered, was one that I was proud of and grew a lot of self belief at what I could achieve. I have gone on to do and achieve some really impressive things with my life both in the fitness and athletic world as well as the day to hustle and bustle. I am proud of myself. And I definitely owe a huge amount of that to my broski for helping create the version of me that could take those strides forwards… and maybe I never quite expressed just how big a thank I owe. Being able to write a testimonial for Tom is as much a privilege for me as it is a pleasure and I truly hope many others get to benefit from what he has to offer.

Tom has taken many pursuits in his life to a high level, whether weightlifting, martial arts, or long-distance cycling. This depth of experience means he understands what it really takes to reach physical goals, but also the mental side of the journey: the highs and lows, motivation, setbacks and injuries. If you went to Tom simply to get bigger biceps, he could certainly help you do that — but you would be missing much of what he truly offers. Tom is deeply interested in both the mind and the body. He understands injury, motivation and the psychology of training, and he has the sensitivity to tailor that knowledge to each individual. Any question I had was met with thoughtful and insightful answers born from years of real experience.

I came to Tom preparing for a mountain adventure that required me to be in excellent shape. I also had a few injuries and weaknesses, not to mention a year or two spent mostly sitting in an office chair, so I needed guidance I could trust. I felt I was in very safe hands. Tom designed a programme that focused not only on strength, but also on balance and flexibility so that I would peak at the right time for my departure.

There is, of course, some good old-fashioned heavy lifting involved, but there is also a subtlety and intelligence to Tom’s approach that goes far beyond what you might expect from a traditional personal trainer. You gain the benefit of his broad experience across many disciplines.
